TRAVELING ARTIST SELF-PORTRAIT SERIES

These self-portrait paintings explore the emotional landscape of life as a traveling artist. My career often pulls me far from the people I love—my family, my partner, my dogs. In quiet, in-between moments, I sometimes take a selfie and send it off as a small gesture of connection. That impulse—to send love across the distance—inspired this series.

This trio of portraits was created for a collaborative exhibition at the Hamptons Fine Art Fair with fellow artist Yoram Gal in Southampton, New York. Our shared vision was to frame the work of our third collaborator, Itamar Yehiel, with three self-portraits from each of us, displayed on either side of his central piece. But upon arriving at the venue, we learned there was only room for two works per artist. One of my portraits was set aside, waiting in the wings—perhaps to rotate in if another piece sold during the show.

Representing intimate glimpses into the emotional rhythm of my life on the road, these self-portrait paintings reflect moments of connection, anticipation, and reflection.

TAKING A MOMENT TO SEND YOU SOME LOVE

Capturing that fleeting, heartfelt gesture. I had just arrived at my hotel after a long day at a show in Sarasota. Exhausted, glasses askew, I still paused to take a photo and say, “I’m thinking of you.”

GOOD NIGHT

Shows me at the end of a long, fulfilling day. I’m weary but content. Another quick snapshot and another goodnight sent to the loved ones I miss.

I WONDER WHAT WILL HAPPEN TODAY

Speaks to that potent moment just before an art show opens - the anticipation, the nerves, and the hope. The day stretches out like a blank page that is full of potential.
